Summer Glam

Sunday, May 29, 2011
Oh hey there. You thought Miss Saturday Morning had disappeared, hadn't you? Well i'm back, and I can't wait to get started on some fabulous summer fashion. I'm going to start off with my first summer look, an outfit I wore to my sister's graduation.

Dress: Kate Moss loves Topshop, Cardigan: Nordstrom, Shoes: Seychelles, Bag: Thrifted

Nail Polish: Pink Flamenco by OPI. It's one of my favorite shades for summer.

I hope you guys enjoy my first summer look! More to come, including some London style and soon a trip to China!

If the Shoe Fits

Tuesday, February 8, 2011
I love shoes. The stomp of a stiletto, the weave of a wedge, the flicker of a flat. But let's face it, basically every girl shares this love. Especially for special occasions, Valentine's Day in particular. When I was little, I made the decision that Nordstrom was the holy grail of show stores. I've never been disappointed by their quality or design, and to this day I buy the vast majority of my shoes there. So, for this year I have thoroughly researched their spring collection and found my favorite pairs of heels and wedges for the Valentine's Day. I hope you enjoy them!

Wedges Fit For A Princess

These 'Matter of Fact' sandals by Seychelles are, in my opinion, the perfect wedge. They have pretty, feminine touches, but still are a great height and have loads of straps that extend your leg, so the shoe isn't too clunky. It's almost spring ladies, and it's time to step it up!

Bows, the Classy Way

Need the perfect heel for a perfect night? I'm loving Enzo Angiolini's 'Sweetness' shoe. Not too high, not too low, and designed with patent and matte leather? I think yes. The sweetest, classiest, cutest way to do a bow and a platform. And get this--for those of you who don't like pastels, they also come in black.

Now you're putting you best foot forward, just because I love you!

Royal Flush

Monday, February 7, 2011
Although every girl loves to wear all the cosmetics they can possibly wear all the time, for Valentine's day it's fun to add so pink and red pizazz. As a self proclaimed Sephora junkie, i'm going to show you my picks from their collection, all starting at the tips of your fingers.

Nail Lacquer

Love pink? Love Glee? Even if the answer to both questions is no, you'll still flip for the new Glee Collection by Sephora by OPI. Check out Miss Bossy Pants for a shimmery deep pink and the solid pink Diva-in-Training, shown above.

Eyeshadow

Pink eyeshadow can sometimes be hard to pull off, but with Urban Decay's Woodstock eyeshadow, you're sure to make a statement. Try a thin line of of black gel liner over a sweep of the eyeshadow, and line lower lashes with black or royal blue pencil.

Pre-Designed Makeup

For those of you who don't like designing and picking out your own cosmetic looks, there are plenty of easy streets. I love Sephora's Fairy Princess Collection, which contains three eyeliners, four eyeshadows, mascara, and mascara primer, everything you need for a perfect pink glitz.

Lips

For Valentine's Day most people want to avoid gloppy glosses and lipstick marks on their drinks, which is why I recommend Tarte's Natural Lip Stain. It comes in a huge variety of lovely hues, and it moisturizes your lips with it's LipSurgence
 technology for that perfect kiss.

Hair Glitter

Need a little extra shimmer? Tarina Tarantino's Sparklicity Pink Shimmer Dust is what I would choose for a brilliant hair shine. Light up a room with this princess-y hair glitter, which also comes in a cool totally retro bottle.

Blush
Need a dewy, rosy cheek for that special someone? I have always sworn by Benefit's Benetint Lip and Cheek Stain. Try out their Benetint Pocket Pal with a dual sided wand (and clear gloss!) that slips it easily into a clutch.

Gorgeous on Valetine's Day? It's a sure thing now! More tips and tricks tomorrow, just because I love you.

Sweet As Sugar

Sunday, February 6, 2011
With the exception of those who have sworn off sugar and those who are deathly allergic to lactose, everyone loves a good cupcake. However, while some go to grocery stores or whip out the Funfetti, others enjoy tastier and far more adorable treats; namely, gourmet.

Gourmet cupcakes have become a huge deal. They come in all kinds of amazing flavors, and have really cool decorations, such as these Chanel ones. Another thing they're perfect for: Valentine's Day. Check out my favorites for the iced pink holiday.

Sprinkles Cupcakes

Christened as the "World's First Cupcake Bakery," Sprinkles opened in Beverly Hills in 2004, and since then has opened stores in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Newport Beach, Scottsdale, San Francisco, and to my personal delight, La Jolla.

Topped with a "modern dot," these cupcakes are perfect for Valentine's Day. Check out their XOX box, their Red Hot Velvet Cupcakes, and their Raspberry Chocolate Chip Cupcakes for a sweet delight!

Magnolia Bakery

Although it does not bear the name, Magnolia Bakery really was the shop to start the cupcake trend. It opened in 1996 in Greenwich Village, it now boasts six total locations, with one in Dubai, another in Los Angeles, and the remainder in New York.

Their Valentine's cupcakes are perfect for a whimsical Valentine. Check out the Love Note box, the Devil's Food Cake Sweet Sayings cupcakes, the Ken <3's Barbie Cupcakes (above) or their Valentine's Day Cupcakes. Just beware: Magnolia's biggest namesake is always having a line out the door!

Cupcake Love

Located in sunny Solana Beach, Cupcake Love is the percect place for a sweet by the sea. Their decadent Rocky Road cupcakes and their Chocolate Dipped Strawberry cupcakes are a brilliant V-Day treat.

Check back tomorrow for another Valentine's post, just because I love you.

Because I Love You

Whether you call it V-Day, a day not to have a first date, or single awareness day, there is no denying that Valentine's Day has become an enormous occasion. Granted, Hallmark probably had something to do with that (who doesn't love capitalizing on love drunk twenty somethings), but regardless there are still loads of things to worry about. What to wear, what to eat, where to go, it can get pretty crazy. So, for the next week, Miss Saturday Morning is going to help you get ready for the big day. Here's a week of pink and red hearts, courtesy of MSM.

Glass Fashion

Monday, January 24, 2011
Glass. Clear, fragile, breakable. Meltable, moldable, able to see through-able. Wearable. No, not around your neck in a little link of beads, but perhaps let's say...dress-able. If you're getting what i'm saying here.

Glass has been used for centuries to makes vases, glasses, windows, and gorgeous jewelry (also paperweights but those don't seem to have much of a real use). Never before has anyone  really considered using glass to make a dress. Until now.

At the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY, there is an absolutely amazing sand blasted glass dress by Karen La Monte. The eerily empty gown is accompanied by a shawl, and looks almost like it was just draped by a french couturier. It's so realistic that you can almost see a ghostly figure gliding in a haunted ballroom.

Then off to the more ridiculous. Meant to be worn over a slip, this dress is entirely made out of emerald glass rings and loops of silver. With a funky 70's vibe and a cool one shoulder bodice, you'd be sure to stand out wherever you wore it. Perhaps not the most conventional attire though...

One of Karen LaMonte's drapery studies with glass. It looks like silver silk!

It Isn't Just the Scots Who Wear Tartan

An extremely common misconception is that tartan is only worn by middle aged men playing bagpipes or those residing on a frigid island in Northern Europe. Another one is that a blizzard is an excuse to dress poorly. This girl proved both myths wrong. When I was in the snowy NYC over winter break, I saw this girl at the Façonnable store at Rockefeller Plaza. She embodied what i love about the fiercely fashionable New Yorkers, and managed to stay warm while doing it.

She rocked a cute red, black, blue, yellow, and cream colored tartan skirt with tights and a long sleeved shirt. Knee high leather boots and a black bag finished off this look for a perfectly classy chic feel. And please, who doesn't love a chocolate colored puffy North Face jacket thrown on top for a little warmth? I'd say that this is a brilliant way to stay stylish when the weather cools down. I give it an icy approval!
