Hottest Look of the Week: Footwear Fit for Super(woman)

Saturday, September 18, 2010
I'd like to start off this post saying that I am rushing to get up all the fashion week posts as quickly as possible.

At New York Fashion Week, people get creative. You aren't even allowed into the tents at Lincoln Center if you don't look fabulous. Fashion bloggers and photographers for magazines hunt through the crowd to find the best dressed people to post about. However, the best way to get your picture taken is by wearing awesome shoes. In some cases, REALLY awesome shoes.

If you're planning on strutting statement shoes, wearing a monochromatic outfit shows them off. We love this woman here who dressed in a chic black dress and tights. Her funky pixie cut helps finish off the look.

What makes her bright yellow shoes stand out? The hilarious comic strip printed on them. The shoes say the effect they have on people; POW! and BOOM! are totally what I thought of too.

Fashion's Night Out: The New Mardi Gras

Saturday, September 11, 2010
There is truly no real way to describe Fashion's Night Out in New York City. I will attempt to try. It begins with a few butterflies slowly rising upwards as you see the painted lips on Diane von Furstenburg's store in the meatpacking district. FNO tshirts have been cut, belted, tucked in and worn every way imaginable. Catherine Malandrino bags boasting "Fashion's Night Out, Sptember 10, 2010" are both stylish and reusable. The green movement is clearly catching on. Style crazed masses flock the street in Chanel flats and Christian Louboutin heels; comfort was not at the top of anyones agenda. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen judge karaoke, Bryan Adams performs at Calvin Klein, and Dr. Perricone hands out strawberry flowers in front of his Madison Avenue store. Pictures we then decide, do the event much more justice than words ever could. Here we go!

Isaac Mizrahi's store uptown. The dress in the window is the gorgeous number Karlie Kloss wore on his F/W 2010 runway.

The DKNY store uptown. Shoppers had their pictures taken in store that were shown on video screens in the windows.

Stores in the meatpacking district. The party was crazy at Vince!

I hope that the pictures offered some idea, but Fashion' Night Out was incredible. Twitter posts were referring to it as "The New Mardis Gras." Everyone walked away with something, wether it be a great new pair of heels, a dress, or an FNO tshirt. The New York City AIDS Fund with out a doubt raised a ton of money. The Fashion Community was really, truly successful in year two of Fashion's Night Out, and it would be a shame not to make this phenomenon a tradition. As the last white Marni balloon disappeared into the black, star speckled sky, hope and promise for fashion's future filled the NYC air.

More on Fashion Week coming soon!

Hottest Look of the Week: Chillin' in the Summertime

Sunday, September 5, 2010
Oh, summer. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love your patterned shorts and strappy sandals, your chic sunglasses, and you over the shoulder bags. I love your beachy hair and your funky jewelry, and your constant mall trips. Oh, summer, I think I'll miss you.

We love these girls totally summery outfits, and we're definitely going to miss the awesome styles from this summer. Au revoir summer, we'll see you again next June.
